Joe and Kim Litterello haven't only lived in Selden for 30 years, they've actually been a part of the community's lineup of local businesses for as long. They launched Showcase Construction back in 1988. One month ago, the couple and their three kids transitioned into a totally new role in the business community: owners of Joe's Campus Heroes. But in a way, things have come full circle for the family — their eatery resides in a building that Showcase Construction built.
Pick up lunch at the new restaurant to meet the Litterello clan and savor one of their specialty sammies. If you want something hot and over-the-top, opt for the Mad Mac, a stack of fried chicken, mac and cheese, melted American cheese, bacon, and Russian dressing on a golden-brown, garlicky roll. Prefer cold cuts in your sandwich? Joe's Special Italian boasts layers of ham, salami, pepperoni, and provolone with lettuce, tomato, onions, and an oil-vinegar blend. Don't forget about the cheesy melts, either, like the honey barbecue chicken melt and the turkey melt.
